JNV Aglar Shopian was inaugurated by His Excellency Sh. Jagmohan Malhotra, the then Honorable Governor of Jammu & Kashmir State, in October 1986. The Vidyalaya operated smoothly in S.P. sheds until December 1992, when it was unfortunately set ablaze by miscreants on the night of 22nd and 23rd December 1992. The district administration relocated the Vidyalaya to Awantipora, District Pulwama, where it continued to function in rented buildings until December 2003.
In March 2003, the school was shifted back to its permanent site in Aglar after the renovation of the damaged S.P. sheds, where it continues to operate to this day. Despite the NVS Noida authorities assigning the construction of permanent buildings to JKPCC in 2007, the work remains incomplete.
